Biographical
I am Mark Frankel, owner and lead attorney for Frankel ADR, LLC. I established my solo practice in 2007, after three decades as a judge and attorney.
After I received my law degree from University of Wisconsin Law School in 1973, I established the firm of Frankel, Langhammer & Pines. I was elected as a judge to the Dane County Circuit Court in 1979 — becoming one of the youngest judges in state history. I served as a judge for 20 years, and during that time I gained a reputation for integrating mediation into my courtroom. I adjudicated cases, but I also provided litigants opportunities to resolve their cases in an informal, yet binding manner. I continue to serve as a Wisconsin reserve judge.
When I left the bench as a judge, I worked as general counsel for a utility provider, then became a partner with Godfrey & Kahn S.C. At that firm, I focused on litigation and alternative dispute resolution.
In addition to my work as a judge and attorney, I am a co-author of the Wisconsin Benchbook for judges. For many years, I was on the faculty of the Wisconsin Judicial College, and I have also served on the faculty of The National Judicial College in Reno, NV, where I taught advanced evidence classes.
I stay up to date on developments in the alternative dispute resolution field. I am an American Arbitration Association panel member, and I am a securities industry arbitrator/mediator for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.
I am currently a reserve judge in Wisconsin and am President of the reserve judges association.
I am able to offer online ADR services through Zoom.
